Dating to 1975 and in fine condition is this well travelled Guild G-37 BLD. Featuring an arched back it shares more in common with the Guild flattops built in the fifties than might be apparent at first glance. American made in the Guild Westerly factory it has a Sitka Spruce top, Maple back and sides, a Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard and pearl position markers and Rosewood bridge. Appointments include a white ivoroid bound top, a Rosewood headstock faceplate with chrome plated, sealed tuners and black scratch plate.
Thanks to the arched back and selected tonewoods the G-37 has a powerful, transparent voice. Very much in the same vein as the lauded Gibson Dove and Hummingbird and much like the formidable early Epiphone Frontiers the Guild G-37 is the perfect cowboy guitar, chords ring out with a bright authority with picked notes having the right presence to cut. The guitar plays well with an action of a hair over 3mm at the 12th fret and it intonates well. The guitar is in great condition with a pleasant characterful appearance. There is an area of pick wear to the Spruce top and various nicks and marks to remind you that the guitar has been played but as a whole the guitar represents nicely for a near 50 year old instrument.
All to easy to disregard, the Guild G-37 is a great sounding, easy playing American-made songwriting guitar. The guitar ships with a period, likely original, plush lined hardshell case in good condition with latches, handles and hinges functioning. Original bridge and end pin are with the guitar.
