Killer 1999 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul ’59 Reissue in a beautiful, naturally aged Cherry Sunburst finish. Always popular, ’59 reissues have been a staple of the Gibson Custom range since the inception of the Art & Historic range in the early nineties with 1999 being the first opportunity for Gibson to release an anniversary version of the guitar that has been one of the most collectable electric guitars of all time - the ’59 Les Paul Standard.

At the time of manufacture these guitars were as close as you could get to the real deal with Gibson paying more attention than ever before to historical accuracy. This included a more realistic "dish" to the top, more accurate binding, body, headstock and neck shape, knob placement and a more accurate sunburst finish. They were loaded with Gibson's '57 Classic PAF pickups which give a vintage voiced, airy, balanced tone and excellent clarity.

The neck is a fairly chunky ’59 C profile measuring 23.27mm at the 1st fret and 25.51mm at the 12th, nut width is 43.4mm. The fingerboard is an incredibly dark cut of Rosewood, of the quality you struggle to see in recent years. The body is a single piece of Mahogany, as is the neck, and the guitar weighs in at a very comfortable 8.7lbs.  The guitar is in great condition with no nasty nicks or dings, the sunburst finish has faded slightly with the back of the body and neck showing more fading. The back of the neck has a light bruise behind the 9th fret but this is barely noticeable.  The original frets show very little wear.

A killer big neck Burst Reissue with 20 years plus of natural ageing on its side helping this pre-VOS beauty look the part with no artificial assistance. This particular example comes with a brown Gibson USA case with hangtag and bits.
