Killer 1974 Fender Telecaster Deluxe in excellent condition featuring two original Seth Lover designed ‘Wide Range’ humbuckers, attractive factory natural finish and with it's original Fender case. The guitar was bought from the original owner some years ago and imported over from Waco, Texas.

Introduced in 1973 alongside the newly revamped Thinline and Custom Telecasters models the Telecaster Deluxe was aimed at providing players with the popular ‘Humbucker’ sound in the familiar Telecaster package. The Deluxe was billed as the top model in the Telecaster range and as such featured a host of new features. It had a 21 fret neck with larger  headstock, micro tilt neck adjustment, Stratocaster style body contour with early models being offered with a tremolo.  The pickups were designed by Ex-Gibson employee Seth Lover, the man responsible for creating the Humbucking pickup for Gibson. The Telecaster Deluxe remained in the Fender Line up until the early 1980’s before being briefly discontinued alongside the Telecaster Custom.

This guitar is in played but original condition. The serial number puts the guitar in the 1973/1974 range. The still legible neck date is 1973, frets and nut are original with the frets showing some wear but still playing well. The ash body is stamped Natural and has no repairs or mods. The finish is in good condition throughout and the guitar as a whole has a pleasing patina. The guitar retains it's original electronics with a full compliment of CTS pots with the source codes of 7402 for the volume and 7323 for the tones. Pickups date to 1974 with everything looking tidy under the pickguard. Like the electronics the guitar retains its factory hardware throughout.

The guitar plays nicely with a good action on 10 gauge strings with the original frets, despite showing some wear play well. The nut width measures 40.63mm and the neck depth is 21.66 mm and 23.62mm at the first and 12th fret respectively. The neck profile is a modern C shape. The guitar sounds excellent plugged in, the Wide Range pickups have a quality quite unique to themselves. In to an amp set at the edge of breakup the pickups have a sensitivity that responds well to picking dynamics and big chords are full of harmonic content and pleasing overtone whilst retaining a wonderful clarity. The volume and tone controls have useable sweeps making dialling in those ‘in-between’ sounds a cinch.

The guitar weighs 8.7lbs and comes with its original Fender Case. An excellent example.
