Originally released late '68 the Type 1 Telecaster Thinline was available with an Ash or Mahogany single f-hole body (hollow on the bass side) and a Maple cap 4-bolt neck. It featured a new look pearloid pickguard but apart from that it retained the standard Tele configuration. The Type 2 version was one of Fender's first models to feature the highly revered Seth Lover-designed wide range humbuckers. Released late in 1971 the Type 2 Thinline featured a 3-bolt neck, bullet truss rod, and Fender Telecaster Thinline on the headstock decal.

This particular model from 1973 is an excellent example in very good overall condition. It has a Nov '72 neck date, pickups date to '73 and tone pot to '71 (code on the volume pot is under solder) and a stamp denoting "natural" in the neck pickup cavity. The guard has been changed but the original is included, and all other hardware is original. As you can see in the photos there is a hairline crack just beneath the f-hole which is stable, otherwise besides some attractive lacquer checking the guitar is in excellent overall condition.

The neck profile is a fairly chunky 'C' and the original frets have plenty of height left on them. It plays exceptionally well strung with 10s. In terms of tone the wide range humbuckers are very well balanced and offer incredible range and clarity as is their reputation. Overall this is an excellent guitar which we feel represents very good value in todays market. Complete with non-original case.
