1977 Fender Telecaster Deluxe, a great example of one of Fenders popular 1970’s designs featuring two original Seth Lover designed ‘Wide Range’ humbuckers. The guitar has had a few changes over the years that help to lower the price.

Introduced in 1972 alongside the revamped Thinline and Custom Telecasters models the Telecaster Deluxe was aimed at providing players with the popular ‘Humbucker’ sound in the familiar Telecaster package. The Deluxe was billed as the top model in the Telecaster range and as such featured a host of new features. It had a 21 fret neck with larger headstock, micro tilt neck adjustment, Stratocaster style body contour with early models being offered with a tremolo. The pickups were designed by Ex-Gibson employee Seth Lover, the man responsible for creating the Humbucking pickup for Gibson. The Telecaster Deluxe remained in the Fender Line up until the early 1980’s before being discontinued alongside the Telecaster Custom.

The guitar retains its all important pickups, a definitive part of the Telecaster Deluxe sound but has had some changes in the past. a body refinish or overpaint being the main thing. The work was certainly completed a long time ago. the finish has started checking in places and there is the odd nick and ding and an area of localised touch up. Nothing unsightly though, it looks like a nice aged example that has been played. The CTS pots are dated to the right period and the solder looks tidy.
Date codes all point to the guitar being a ’77 with the serial number mirroring that on the pickguard. Tuners have been swapped out for a set of later Schaller Fender examples. The guitar has a tight neck pocket and weighs in at a respectable 7.9lbs. The frets have some wear but the guitar rings cleanly with a good action.

The guitar comes with an old non-original case.
