Description
Stunning Fylde Alexander Custom from 2015, made in the U.K. by highly regarded luthier Roger Bucknall MBE. Roger is one of the most experienced and respected guitar makers alive in the world today. His client list is a who's who of professional musicians from every area of music, and his friendship with those musicians has produced iconic guitar designs that have helped to shape the guitar playing styles of the British Isles.

Custom ordered by the original owner with a combination of a Sequoia Top and Macassar Ebony back and sides with a Walnut and Ebony neck, Ebony Fingerboard and bridge. The Macassar Ebony is wonderfully figured with a wider more gentle pattern compared to the tighter striped figuring often seen with with wood. The Sequoia top is tight and straight grained. A rarely seen timber for guitar construction its stiffness to weight ratio is like spruce making it a wonderful choice for guitar tops. With a width of 15 9/16” at the lower bout and a depth of 4 1/4” the body is slightly larger than a Martin 000. The 20 fret neck has 14 frets clear of the body, the nut width is 45.42mm, wider than the Standard Alexander. Scale Length is 24-3/4”. The appointments are excellently chosen with Walnut body binding, delicate multi-colouredpurfling and Marquetry complementing the tonewoods perfectly. Tuners are Ebony buttoned, Gold platted Gotoh.

The guitar is in fantastic condition throughout and has been very well cared for. The bridge is a replacement as the original had started to lift, the work has been done to a high level by Celine at Luthiers Corner and is barely visible. In use the combination of Redwood and Macassar Ebony give the guitar a warm, detailed clear, loud sound with a woody, mid-rich bark when played harder. The guitar has an incredibly even response up and down the neck that works perfectly in standard, drop or modal tunings. The 1 3/4” nut width suits finger style or players that prefer a little more room.

Fylde guitars has just celebrated its 50th Anniversary and with its reputation for tone, playability, quality and style it is easy to understand how. The guitar comes with a hardshell case.
