Excellent sounding, workhorse Epiphone FT-79N Texan from 1966.
Natural finish spruce top slope shoulder Dreadnought with Mahogany back and sides and Rosewood fingerboard. Made in the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Texan shares many similarities in it construction to the Gibson J-45 with the exception of its scale length of 25 1/2" opposed to the 24 3/4 scale of the J-45. Cosmetically it's pure Epiphone with the famous elongated headstock with script Epiphone logo inlay in Pearl and single fingerboard parallelogram inlay.
The guitar has had some running repairs over the years, the neck has been reset and refretted with the nut changed. There is a repaired crack to the instrument top and the 3 on a strip plastic Kluson Tuners have been replaced with a cool set of Pat. Pending Grover Rotomatics. There is a small repaired separation to the headstock likely caused by the installation of the Grover tuners.
The guitar has various nicks and dings throughout and displays its honest war wounds with pride. The guitar has been played extensively over the years and as such sounds all the better for it. Tonally it has qualities of two heavyweights of the Dreadnought world, there's the tightness and projection of a Martin D-18 combined with the grunt of a Gibson J-45. The reset neck means the guitar has a great neck angle with plenty of height on the saddle that really help to drive the soundboard.
The guitar comes with a soundhole L.R. Baggs M-1A pickup and a non-factory HSC. A wonderful player-grade vintage acoustic.
