1939 Martin 0-17H Conversion

Wonderful late '30s Martin 0-17H, converted from Hawaiian style to Spanish for regular playing. Introduced in 1930 and remaining in the catalog until 1939 the 0-17 H was a popular model for Martin at the time capitalising on the Hawaiian music craze of the period. 

Featuring a 12 fret, 0 shape body with mahogany top back and sides. The 12-fret neck has a Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard, Slot headstock and gold CF Martin Logo on the front. Appointments are typically Style 17 with simple dot inlays and sound hole rosette with tortoiseshell pickguard.  As part of the conversion the bridge has been replaced with rosewood pyramid style bar bridge with angled saddle, the tall, original nut has been replaced and the fingerboard has been re-fretted. The fingerboard has not been radiused and the nut is 47.98mm. The guitar has in great condition overall, aside from the conversion work there is a repaired crack to the guitars back and the heel cap has been replaced plus bridge pins are modern replacement. 

In use the guitar feels and sounds great, the roomy nut width gives plenty of space, perfect for bigger hands of fingerstyle use. The neck profile is a chunky soft-V. The guitar has a big full bodied tone, balanced with the accentuated highs mahogany often promotes. The guitar comes with an original Carlton Case bespoke for this guitar.
