Charming Martin 00-18, a well loved example of the this often overlooked, Grand Concert sized Martin. The top has honeyed in the way that old spruce Martin tops will, the fingerboard shows plenty of wear as does the back of the neck in the first position, this one has been enjoyed, and it looks and sounds all the better for it! Featherweight, the guitar has a lovely balanced tone and has the classic Martin Mahogany and Spruce sound in abundance, drier and crisper than its Rosewood counterparts with an attack to the note and superb projection that belies the guitars size.

Dating from 1958 this wonderful example features a Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides with a Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The Style 18 is one of Martins oldest and most popular styles and although it may not be the flashiest it has a utilitarian elegance and quality. Appointments are minimal but suit perfectly with a tortoiseshell pickguard and binding, simple sound hole rosette and graduating dot fingerboard inlays. Tuners are open back Grover Sta-tite.

Fresh from a neck reset with our luthier the guitar plays wonderfully with a good neck angle and bridge height. These late fifties Martins are amongst the last guitars to get the magical soft V profile neck, it feels comfortable in the hand thumb behind or thumb over. The guitar has been refretted prior to coming into us and plays well. Internally the guitar is great, there have been no modifications to the bridge or bridge plate. There are two stable pickguard cracks to the top and a small crack to the back. All in all a wonderful instrument with plenty of character. Complete with a modern protective case.
