Sublime Custom Spec, 12 fret 000 Martin from 2010. Skillfully crafted in the Martin Custom Shop the guitar is based upon the highly popular Vintage Series 000-28VS. This guitar has been spec'd with a Premium Engelmann Spruce top with shaded Amber tone 1933 sunburst finish, beautiful, highly figured Koa back and sides and a mixture of Style 42 and Style 45 appointments in green Paua and exotic hardwoods.

The 000, 12-fret body features a tight grained Engelmann Spruce top with scalloped Sitka spruce bracing throughout. The top is edge bound with Quilted Bubinga and Green Paua Pearl, the Style 45 soundhole Rosette is in the same Green Paua Pearl. There is an additional Green Paua inlay around the fingerboard like a Style 42 instrument.

The back and sides of the guitar feature incredibly figured solid Koa which looks stunning. The back is two piece, book matched with a simple, yet elegant quilted Bubinga center strip. The neck is genuine Mahogany with Martin's comfortable Mod V neck profile, the headstock is slotted with an Ebony Faceplate. The Martin Guitars script logo is accurately inlayed in green Paua. The unstained Ebony fingerboard has a 16” radius with 19 Jescar frets. The Ebony fingerboard is inlayed with Style 45 snowflakes with abalone side dots. The fingerboard is mitred quilted Bubinga. Scale length is 25.4”, nut width is 1 13/16th with a string spacing of 2 5/16th. The Pyramid bridge is Ebony with long saddle. Tuners are side mounted, vintage-style Waverly with Ivoroid buttons. The guitar is finished in full gloss with Martins Amber tone 1933 Sunburst.

The guitar sounds superb with an open and dryness to the tone, great projection and a good amount of headroom. It sustains well with notes tailing off with pleasant overtones that resist fussiness or over complicated overtones. Strung with regular D’Addario Phosphor-Bronze strings the guitar has a crisp, clarity in the trebles somewhere between a Mahogany and Maple guitar. The bass has a tight response with depth and precision. There is great string separation with each note sounding balanced. The 25.4” scale length gives the guitar a good string tension and the nut width and string spacing are prefect for a predominantly fingers-style players or the player that feels tight on a 1 11/16th neck. The Modified V neck profile feels very natural and tapers nicely towards the body.

The guitar has been enjoyed and used regularly and as a result has opened up beautifully. The first 4 frets have been replaced and a clear plastic protective guard is currently fitted just below the sound hole, but the overall condition is excellent and it's easy to see that the guitar has been very well cared for. The guitar comes with a K&K Pure Mini passive transducer pickup fitted by the previous owner along with its original Martin Custom Shop case in equally good condition.
