£2,895.00
Lovely 25 year old Gibson ES-335 Dot Reissue in an ever popular Vintage Sunburst finish that does a wonderful job of highlighting the figuring to the top and back. Always popular guitars, late nineties Gibson ES-335’s were available with either a plain or figured maple top. These models are identical other than the figured maple, and can be identified by their model codes: ESDP for plain top models, and ESDT for figured top models.
The guitar is in excellent original condition and features a figured Maple top, back and sides, the fingerboard is a particularly nice dark, figured piece of Indian Rosewood with dot inlay position markers. The Mahogany neck has a comfortable medium-slim profile with a measurement at the 1st fret of 21.36 mm increasing to 23.17mm at the 12th fret, the nut width is 43.35mm. The pickups are Gibson ’57 Classic Humbuckers with DC readings of 8.45K and 8.39K in the neck and the bridge respectively. The hardware comprises Grover Rotomatic tuners, Gibson ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece all hardware is Nickel plated. The pickguard is the short black 5-ply bevelled type and knobs are the late 50’s style black bonnet variety.
The finish is superb throughout. The frets have little to no wear and retain plenty of height, the Indian Rosewood fingerboard is dark and wear free. The guitars finish is bright and vibrant with only light fogging to the Nickel hardware hinting at the guitars 25 year age. The 57 Classic pickups work well in the thinline ES-335 with its Alnico II magnets, balanced coils and ‘hot PAF’ output giving the guitar smooth, warm tone with excellent articulation. Set up on 11-46 strings the guitar feels solid and acoustically alive.
The guitar weighs in at a good 8.4lbs and comes with its original Gibson hard case. The case shows light signs of exterior wear from storage. A great looking, great playing ES-335 from what is regarded by many as a fine period of Gibson production.
