In 2017 Gibson Custom merged the previous True Historic and Standard Historic Reissues into one range: the Custom Reissue Standard. Year-specific these instruments are Gibson Custom's latest step in refining the reissues from the classic design of the late 1950's.
The guitar has a beautiful flamed maple top that is strong from all angles with the thin nitrocellulose Iced Tea finish exaggerating the top carve and flame. Like the originals the red aniline dye has started to fade giving the guitar a far older look than it's age might suggest. The neck is a classic Gibson '59 profile, perhaps a little slimmer than in previous years but still a comfortable medium C.
The guitar is a nice lightweight example, which in combination with the great sounding PAF-inspired Custom Bucker pickups makes for a hugely enjoyable instrument to play. The Les Paul comes with its original Gibson Custom Shop Case and Certificate.
