Stunning 2018 Fender ’52 Telecaster in a skilfully aged Lake Placid Blue Heavy Relic finish. Part of a small run ordered by the team at Andertons as ’The Ultimate Custom Shop Tele’ the guitars' spec was inspired by their resident guitarist and all around good guy Danish Pete’s now famous Purple Custom Shop Telecaster.

Featuring a lightweight 2-piece Ash body and a single piece quarter-sawn Maple neck aged with a toned down Heavy Relic level of wear. The body has a perfectly distressed Lake Placid Blue Nitro Cellulose lacquer finish and the neck a tinted clear coat simulating darkening lacquer as well as the worn in fingerboard. The simulated wear on this example is very convincing and the finish has settled nicely over the last 5 years. The neck has the ‘Nocaster U’ profile, 50’s style truss rod, Sanko 6105 fret wire and a 9.5” radius Fingerboard. The pickups chosen are the extremely popular Custom Shop combo of a Twisted Tele in the neck and 51 Nocaster in the bridge all wired to a three way switch with modern wiring. The aged hardware is nickel plated throughout and 52 period spec correct. Fitted with a 4-ply Tortoise pickguard that contrasts with the Lake Placid Blue finish perfectly.

The guitar has been very well looked after with no non-factory wear evident. The pickguard has the lightest of marks and the nickel hardware is all still bright. Weighing in at 6.7lbs it is lively both acoustically and amplified with the flatter fingerboard radius and 6105 frets allowing for an easy playing choke free and low set up. In the pickups you have what is possibly the most popular Telecaster set Fender offer. The 51 Nocaster in the bridge is bright and hot, perfect for that classic 50’s Tele Twang and the Twisted Tele is essentially a Strat neck pickup in Tele form, so it has a perfect balance of punchiness, clarity and a bit of Stratty thump. The neck, spec'd with a worn back, has a large U profile that despite its depth is very comfortable. It has a 42.02mm nut width and a 1st fret depth of 24.35mm and 25.04mm at the 12th.

These models sold quickly on their release, and it's easy to see why. The Custom Shop ’52 Telecaster has been a staple in the range since the nineties and with subtle but effective changes to the standard spec you have a lightweight, versatile Telecaster that would pique any Tele purists interest.

The guitar comes with its Tweed G&G Custom Shop case, Certificate, Floor Traveler sheet and assorted accessories.
