Very rare and increasingly collectable Fender John Mayer Black1 Signature Stratocaster from 2010 in great original condition. 1 of 500 released in collaboration with John Mayer as a Limited Edition version of his popular Signature Model. Featuring a Black finish mirroring that of Mayer’s own personal Stratocaster and with with upgrades including gold hardware throughout and a model- exclusive, super-protective Incase gig-bag.
Featuring a lightweight Alder body with a gloss Black finish that uniquely no tremolo cover plate or holes to fit one. The sixties style neck has a satin finish to the back of the Neck with a Gloss Finish to the front of the Headstock. An early-sixties style Slab African Rosewood fingerboard has a 9.5” Radius with 21, 6105 Narrow Jumbo frets. Pickups are the unique and highly sought after Fender Big Dipper Single-Coils based on the underwound, mid-scooped pickups found in John's own 1990s Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature Stratocaster. Appointments are Vintage inspired with a traditional Fender Tremolo, Bridge, and early-sixties style 3-ply guard yet there are a few concessions to modernity, namely a 5-way switch and a set of Pearl Buttoned Schaller Tuners. The Hardware is gold plated throughout.
The guitar is in excellent original condition throughout, there are light signs of use with some minor polishing swirls and light pick marks. There are a few marks to the body and some very light fret wear but we are being ultra critical due to the collectable nature of this model. The Gold hardware is bright with very little tarnishing. In use, the satin neck is very comfortable, mimicking the played through feel of a well loved Vintage Fender. The profile is a chunky C with measurements of 21.07mm at the 1st fret and 24.15mm at the 12th. The Big Dippers are a great sounding set of Stratocaster pickups that are quite sought after by themselves. Mid-scooped they work particularly well into Fender voiced amps but sound equally sweet plugged into anything British voiced. Measuring 5.86K, 6.15K and 6.71K from Neck to Bridge the set have mismatched outputs but are calibrated to balance well in all 5 voices.
