Killer example of one of the lesser spotted Gibson Custom Reissue models, the 1954 Les Paul Goldtop. Just in from the original owner the guitar a nice lightweight example in remarkably clean condition, all original with certificate and original Case.

Crafted by the talented men and women of the Gibson Custom Shop the ’54 Reissue is an authentic recreation of the Les Paul Model produced by Gibson between late 1953 and 1955. With a spec mirroring the original it features a carved Maple top, Mahogany back and a one-piece Mahogany neck with long tenon joint and bound Rosewood fingerboard with pearl trapeze position marker inlays. The defining feature is the all important Gold finish applied to the top of the guitar with a natural body and neck. The pickups are P90s and the bridge is the simple one piece wrap-around bridge tailpiece combo.

This guitar is a great example from 2019, it is in fantastic condition, tips the scales at 8.4lbs and has two powerful sounding stock Gibson P-90s measuring 7.68K and 7.60K in the neck and the bridge. The finish is Gibsons proprietary VOS finish that gives the guitar an aged feel and appearance without being artificially aged. The gold finish is a richer hue than the earlier Goldtop Reissues and highlights the carve to the top nicely. The neck has a medium depth C profile measuring 23.12 at the 1st fret with a 42.98mm nut width. Hardware is all nickel plated with single ring/single line Kluson Deluxe tuners and the wrap-around tailpiece both given the same patinated finish. The P-90 covers and pickguard are a cream plastic accurately mimicking the naturally aged plastics from the 50’s. Lively and resonant acoustically thanks in part to the simple wrap-over tailpiece and the lightweight set neck Mahogany construction. This all translates into a great voice when amplified; the pickups sound well balanced with a particularly good middle position. The treble setting provides plenty of cut and bite whilst the neck pickup has the woody bark often associated with a P-90 Les Paul.

The guitar comes complete with its original Gibson Brown HSC, Custom Shop Certificate and additional Case ephemera.
