Excellent 2014 Martin OM-21 in great condition with its original Martin Hardshell case. The Style 21 can date its origins back to the 1860s and has a tradition of being an austerely appointed guitar when compared to Style 28 and higher instruments whilst in no way compromising on construction, materials, feel or tone. A point this lightly played and nicely opened up the guitar proves perfectly.

Introduced into the range in the early 90’s the OM-21 was released to appease the requests from fingerstyle players for a guitar with a 1-3/4” nut and a scallop braced top. Those earlier guitars would feature a Rosewood fingerboard and bridge as well as Grover Rotomatic Tuners. A part of the Martin Standard Series the OM-21 would get a facelift in 2012 with changes including an Ebony fingerboard and bridge, open-geared Butterbean tuners, an aging toner to the top, Delmar tortoise shell polished and bevelled pickguard plus an old-style Martin decal.

As well as those changes this OM-21 features back and sides of select, solid Indian Rosewood, a scalloped-braced Sitka Spruce top and Ebony fingerboard and bridge. The body is bound in tortoise celluloid and features a bevelled edge matching pickguard and Style 28 rosette. A bone nut and saddle, aforementioned open-geared tuners, and vintage-style headstock logo bring a vintage-inspired look to the guitar. Martin's Performance-tapered oval-carved neck has a 1-3/4” nut, 25.4” scale, and 2-5/32” string spacing at the bridge.

This guitar is a particularly nice example with an attractive quarter-sawn Sitka top with high level of silking and a pleasantly figured Rosewood back and sides set. Condition throughout is great with very little wear. There is a small mark that has been drop filled on the top and some minor forearm wear to the side of the body. The guitar highlights why OM model Martins are so popular, the Bass has a warm rounded quality that balances perfectly with the bell like top end clarity and definition.

The guitar comes with the original Martin case.
