Super cool Blonde over Ash 2016 Fender American Vintage ’64 Telecaster with Tortoiseshell pickguard.

The American Vintage Series has, since it’s early 80’s introduction been a very popular line for Fender with 2012 seeing a new lineup of year specific guitars as well as some new features, new specs and higher level of vintage accuracy. This series ran until 2017 when it was replaced by more generalised decade specific American Original Series.

Based upon the design of an original 1964 Telecaster, the American Vintage '64 Telecaster featured a lightweight Ash body with Fenders' revised nitrocellulose finish in Aged White Blonde.  A slimmer, more rounded maple neck with “C”-shaped profile, round-laminated 7.25 radius Rosewood fingerboard with larger pearl dot inlays. Pickups were wound to period-correct specs, with staggered bridge pickup pole magnets. Appointments included a three-ply white pickguard with eight holes, Kluson Vintage Tuners, threaded steel “barrel” bridge saddles and top hat switch tip.

This guitar has had its original white 3-ply pickguard replaced with an attractive 8 hole Tortoiseshell example that looks great in combination with the Aged White Blonde finish. The finish itself has picked up the odd edge knock and mark and is starting to age naturally. In use the guitar plays well and sounds like a great Tele. Weighing 7.6lbs the guitar has a loud acoustic voice and plugged in the Fender pickups sound great with plenty of top and clarity without being overtly 'shouty.' The pickups are factory wired in the post-67 ‘modern’ style, one of the few modern concessions. The guitar comes with its original G&G Fender Case and assorted case candy.
