Superb 2016 James Trussart Steelmaster in great playing, original condition. Building guitars since the 1980s and using steel as his primary material Trussart has worked with many influential artists over the years including Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, Joe Walsh, Jack White, Charlie Sexton, Marc Ribot, Peter Stroud and Rich Robinson (Black Crowes) to name just a few.
The Steelmaster is the Trussart take on the traditional offset but with James’ unique build ethos and customary flair. Featuring a chambered Sugar Pine body with a recessed steel top plate, a patented Trussart feature with a bolt on maple fingerboard, maple neck with trademarked recessed steel headstock plate. Finish wise the guitar has the great looking Driftwood finish to the body with Antique Silver Gator engraved Metalwork and grey stained neck and fingerboard. The Pickups are a pair of highly regarded Arcane Jazzmaster single coils wired to a three way switch and independent volume and a master tone knobs. Hardware is all of a suitable high quality with Mastery bridge and Tremolo unit as well as aged Kluson Deluxe tuners.
The ’62 spec neck has a 10” radius with a nut width of 41.95. Frets are Dunlop 6105 Medium Jumbo and show minimal wear. The neck has a comfortable mid C profile with a depth at the 1st fret of 20.45 increasing to 22.06 at the 12th. The guitar weighs a reasonable 8.1lbs/3.65kg thanks to the lightweight chambered body and plays with a loud, lively acoustic voice. The Arcane pickups are a medium output and have an authentic Jazzmaster tone.
The guitar comes safely housed in its original G&G case with Trussart Certificate.
